The tasting has the dual objective of rewarding the best Cabernets and electing the Best Cabernet in the World. It is carried out by a jury of experts made up of sommeliers who are members of the Union de la Sommellerie Française.

The Union de la Sommellerie Française.
The Union de la Sommellerie Française (UDSF) is partnering the competition. This organisation brings together nearly 1,400 sommeliers; it also selects the best Sommelier of France, amongst other awards. Jurys are composed of sommeliers who blind taste several wines in a category. Prior to tasting, bottles are covered, numbered and sorted in accordance with their percentage of cabernet, origin and terroir. Results are later communicated to all UDSF members.

A Demanding President
Philippe Faure-Brac, President of the Union de la Sommellerie Française since 2016, and World’s Best Sommelier 1992, will put his expertise at the service of the Competition in his capacity as Honorary President. Ambassador of the Competition through the media and his profession, he also has the role of reminding tasters of the need to be demanding, rigorous and impartial.

Election of the World’s Best Cabernet: The Supreme Award!
At the end of the first tasting, a ‘grand jury’ re-tastes the best wine of each table in order to determine the World’s Best Cabernet. The grand jury is composed of several professional sommeliers who have distinguished themselves in the wine world (World’s Best Sommelier, Meilleur Ouvrier de France, Best Sommelier in France, Sommelier of the Year, etc. ). In 2022, a South-African Cabernet was rewarded: David Finlayson—GS—2019under control Tasting.

All samples will be tasted in compliance with very strict hygiene measures, Competition regulations and ISO9001 certification. The assurance of rigorous selection and organization is a guarantee of quality and trust for consumers and wine professionals.
